This points out two major issues in translation: First, translation is the process from the original discourse to the target discourse. Second, I affirm the importance of the basic characteristics of the coherent discourse in the translation process. This article starts from the internal and external factors (cultural context, cognitive mode, etc.) that affect the coherence of discourse to explore how translators identify and understand the coherence of the original discourse and how to reconstruct the coherence of the translated discourse.
