灰姑娘是格林童话中塑造的人物形象。后来人们常用“灰姑娘”这个词去形容那些外表不出众但是内心善良，性格可爱的女子。故事告诉我们在任何嘲讽、刁难和欺凌之下，都要吃苦耐劳，忍辱负重地活着。故事告诉我们，如果对美好未来无限憧憬，保持善良与积极的心态，我们最终会获得幸福生活。
Once upon a time， there lived a kind and lovely girl. She was named Cinderella. Her mother died when she was very young. Her father got remarried. Unluckily for her， her father died soon. After her father’s death， her stepmother became cruel to her. Her two stepsisters teased her and treated her as their servant， asking her to do all the housework. 从前有一个可爱的小女孩。她的名字叫灰姑娘。她小的时候，妈妈就去世了。后来爸爸再婚了。但是不幸的是，她的爸爸不久也去世了。爸爸去世后，继母对她很凶狠。继母带来的两个姐姐也经常欺负她。她们把她当女佣一样使唤，要她做所有的家务活。
Stepmother 继母： Do the laundry and get on with your duties. Clean the floors right away. And what’s more， bring me my breakfast. 把这些衣服洗了，然后继续做其它家务。把地板赶快给我擦干净。另外，把我的早饭送来。
Stepsister 1 姐姐1： Cinderella！Get me my coat， I feel a little cold. 灰姑娘，把我的外套拿来，我感到有点冷。
Stepsister 2 姐姐2： Hurry up！ Prepare the carriage for me， hand me my gloves. I will be late for my date. You’re so slow， you’re always so slow. 快点！把马车给我准备好，把手套递给我。我约会要晚了，你总是那么慢腾腾的。
Cruel as her stepmother was to her， Cinderella still lived a happy life. She had a lot of animal friends：mice，birds and dogs. She also had many plant friends： trees， flowers， grass and vegetable ... 虽然继母这样对她，可灰姑娘还是快乐地生活着。她有许多小动物做她的朋友：小老鼠、小鸟、小狗等。她还有许多植物朋友：树、花、草和蔬菜等。
One day， the king would hold a party for the prince. They wanted to choose a beautiful girl to be his wife. Every girl in the town was invited to the party. 一天，国王即将为王子举办一场舞会。他们想为王子挑选一位美丽的女孩做他的妻子。城里所有的女孩都被邀请参加这个宫廷舞会。
The stepmother took her two daughters to the party， leaving Cinderella at home doing housework， because she was jealous of Cinderella’s beauty. 可继母嫉妒灰姑娘的美貌，她让灰姑娘在家干活，独自带着她的两个女儿去参加舞会。
Cinderella was broken-hearted. At that time， her fairy godmother appeared. 灰姑娘非常伤心，这时，仙女奶奶出现了。
Fairy Godmother 仙女奶奶： Why are you crying， my dear？ 亲爱的，你为什么哭泣啊？
Cinderella 灰姑娘： Mom said after I finished all the housework， I would go to the party. Now I did everything they ordered. They left me behind！ 妈妈说我做完家务活就可以参加舞会的。现在我做完了他们吩咐的一切，但是我还是被留在了家里。
Fairy Godmother 仙女奶奶： And here I am！Oh， come now， Dry those tears！孩子！有我呢！噢，过来，擦干眼泪。
Cinderella 灰姑娘： En. 嗯。
Fairy Godmother 仙女奶奶： Now let’s see， hmm ... now ... the magic words. Bibbidi-boddidi-boo. Put them together and what have you got？ 让我想想……现在，这些魔力的话，Bibbidi-boddidi-boo。 把它们放在一起，看你得到了什么。
