We have shown that Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides can restore humoral and cellular immune functions that are inhibited by aging. For instance, in vivo administration can reduce the number of hemolytic plaque-forming cells (PFCs) in 14-month-old mice that are resistant to erythrocyte (SRBC). In vitro administration reduced concanavalin A (Con A)-induced splenic lymphocyte proliferative responses to approximately 3-month-old mice at 14-month-old mice, and produced splenocytes from 19-month-old mice to produce leukocytes.
