所谓方程式赛车是指所有参赛的赛车都必须符合国际赛车联盟颁布的有关规定。这些规定主要包括赛车的长度、宽度、质量,轮胎的距离大小等。而根据这些数据设计制造的赛车,其准确性和复杂性就如同解答一道道数学方程式。因此,人们习惯上便把这种赛车称作“方程式赛车”。当今世界上流行的方程式赛车根据气缸容积和功率的大小分为:三级方程式(气缸容积是2L)、二级方程式(气缸容积是3L、功率约354kW)和一级方程式(气缸容积3.5L、功率在485～522kW)三种。一级方程式赛车的功率大、车速快,其锦标赛是当今世界上水平最高、最富于刺激性的汽车大赛。
Formula racing means that all participating cars must comply with the relevant regulations promulgated by the International Racing Federation. These provisions include the length of the car, width, quality, the size of the tire and so on. The cars that are designed and built on these numbers are just as accurate and as complex as the mathematical equations. Therefore, people used to call this car “formula racing.” Formula cars that are popular in today’s world are divided according to cylinder volume and power size: the third equation (cylinder volume is 2L), the second equation (cylinder volume is 3L, power is about 354kW) and the first equation (cylinder volume 3.5L, Power at 485 ~ 522kW) three.
