One weekend in May 2010, two contemporary art galleries opened simultaneously in Rome: Macro and Maxxi. Macro is the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome (Municipal Museum), Maxxi is the National Museum of the 21st Century Arts. Macro is the work of French architect Otidina Dyck, while Maxxi was designed by Zha Hadid, an Iraqi-British architect who won the 2004 Pritzker Prize for Architecture. Here are some examples of data: Maxxi is a massive site with an area of 21 000 m2, including 10 pavilions; Macro is relatively modest in scale and serves as a municipal museum in the Nomonama area. Otidina Dyck won the competition in 2001 with a project investment of 20 million euros.
