Recently, seven major global science academies including Brazil, China, India, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Third World Academy of Science jointly published a white paper in Washington DC, which publicly supports the research on genetically modified organisms. In recent years, transgenic technologies have been developed rapidly in order to increase pest resistance, enhance environmental tolerance and increase crop yields. However, in the process of its commercialization, it encountered many troubles. Mainly for the safety of genetically modified foods and the potential harm to the environment, consumers from suspicion, fear, and even to resist and protest, governments took a different attitude.
