6月4日上午,温州海关邮检现场。 一个寄自新加坡申报成“柚木”的邮包,引起海关关员的注意——一只规格仅为52×32×20立方厘米的普通纸板箱,重量却有30公斤。这些“柚木”为梯形板材,长度、厚度与筷子差不多,宽度则不尽相同,最宽的有四指幅,最窄的只有一指幅。用砂纸打掉红褐色油漆,居然露出明显的米白色。经“上海市野生动植物鉴定中心”鉴定,这是取自非洲幼象的象牙半成品,由于走私分子取材时尽可能取象牙的实心部分,因而耗费象牙数量多,估计至少要10对以上象牙,即要猎杀10多只非洲未成年象。 据悉,此邮包是一位广东籍新加坡华侨寄给乐清一位私营企业主的。行邮渠道走私如此巨大数量的象牙半成品,在全国罕见。
