历代以来,各种人物站在不同的立场,对秦始皇“焚书坑儒”有着不同的看法和评议。对一个历史人物和事件,各个阶级站在不同的阶级立场,会得出截然不同的评价,这是毫不奇怪的。顽固地维护奴隶制的孔老二被劳动人民斥为“丧家之狗”、“四体不勤、五谷不分”的寄生虫;而地主资产阶级的反动统治者却对他顶礼膜拜,吹捧他为“圣人”,一直抬到吓人的高度。秦始皇是新兴地主阶级的杰出政治家,他第一个完成统一中国的伟大事业,建立了专制主义的中央集权的封建国家,在我国历史上起过重要的进步作用。但是,古今中外的反动派都反对秦始皇,对他进行咒骂和污蔑。
