Objective To analyze the efficacy of low dose estrogen prophylaxis in recurrent urinary tract infection in postmenopausal women. Methods Seventy-six patients with recurrent urinary tract infection after menopause were divided into control group and treatment group according to the random number table method, with 38 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with conventional antibiotics. The treatment group was treated with low-dose estrogen on the basis of conventional antibiotics, and the treatment effect was compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of treatment group was higher than that of control group. Vaginal inflammation score was significantly lower than that of control group after treatment. Vaginal health score was higher than that of control group. The recurrence rate was lower than that of control group (P <0.05). Conclusions Small doses of estrogen in patients with recurrent post-menopausal urinary tract infections may reduce the recurrence rate and improve the therapeutic effect.
