In 1990, one might expect psychologists to focus on the rational mechanisms of individuals and groups with unprecedented enthusiasm, by which we can explain the global crises that threaten us, such as the nuclear arms race. Psychological studies of safety systems need to control these threats that may swell. However, this may lead to an increase in the tension between “science” and “humanistic” tendencies in psychology. On the other hand, we can also expect more serious attempts to develop a historical psychology by analyzing the philosophical background of psychology and, with the help of social psychology, by communicating different branches, produce an integrated psychology.
