轻型井点法是一种比较广泛使用的井点降水法，在基坑（槽）开挖前，将许多直径较细的井点管沿基坑（槽）四周或两侧埋入地层内，井点管上端通过弯联管与总管相连接，利用抽水设备将地下水从井点管内不断抽出，可将原地下水位降至坑底以下，使基坑（槽）保持于燥状态，可以改善工作条件．防止流砂发生，边坡也可放陡些，从而减少了土方开挖量．
