Toni Morrison (1931-), a black American woman writer, was the Nobel Prize winner in 1993 and the first black woman writer to receive this award. She regards writing as a way of thinking devoted to depicting the loss of black cultural values, the search for self and the search for the roots of culture. The Bluest Eye, Sula and Song of Solomon are three novels that reflect the thought and life of black women in the United States. They explore the quest for the self-identity of African-American black women in depth. At the same time, we can see from these three works that Morrison’s consciousness of feminism is gradually changing.
