After the virus enters the body through the digestive tract or the respiratory tract, it first adheres to the surface of the epithelial cells, and then binds with the corresponding receptors and invades the cells for propagation and proliferation. Some viruses make use of Claudin as a receptor for invasion of host epithelial cells. Such as Coxsackie virus can bind to Epithelial tight junction protein CAR and occludin; Hepatitis C virus can bind to hepatocyte tight junction proteins claudins and occludin; Reovirus can bind to epithelial tight junction protein JAM; Rotavirus Intestinal epithelial cells and intestinal tight junction protein claudins and occludin binding. This review summarizes the recent advances in how the virus interacts with tight junction proteins.
