“Information Theory ” was originally a topic in the field of radio broadcasting. Now the concept of “signal-to-noise ratio” has been widely used. Any transmission channel that needs to be cleared of interference should consider this ratio. This is not a big issue in the traditional “short head” market, as everything on the shelves has been filtered in advance, and alternative gadgets and other non-popular products have been cleared. But in an odd long tail market, noise can become a big problem. The job of the filter is to remove these noises. Just like wheat threshing or carving diamonds, the task of a filter is to pick out the essences that people want and filter out the extraneous parts that people do not want. One of the most common mistakes people make is judging the pros and cons of products based on their sales - that is, something that is not selling well must be “worse” than something that is selling well. But the niche market economics is different from mainstream economics.
