回族是个相对沉默的民族:几乎无歌,花儿例外;几乎无琴,口弦子例外。像沉默的大山中的清泉溪涧一样,一歌一琴打破了这个民族的沉默,或者说是更衬托出这个民族的沉默。花儿是产生并流行与甘肃、宁夏、青海、新疆等回族聚居地的一种山歌,又称“少年”。它是回汉等各族人民,用汉语歌唱的、以爱情为主要内容的、格律和歌唱方式都相当独特的一种山歌。回族花儿由于流行的地区不同,受到的文化影响不同,形成了不同流派的艺术
