Objective To analyze the factors influencing the diameter difference of bilateral common carotid artery and its clinical significance. MATERIALS AND METHODS 46 patients with different cerebrovascular diseases underwent digital subtraction angiography and the diameter of common carotid artery (CCA) was measured by Doppler echocardiography. Results The difference of bilateral CCA diameters between two groups was less than 0.7 mm in patients with normal cerebrovascular angiography. When the difference of bilateral CCA diameters was larger than 0.7 mm, different vascular lesions were observed with cerebral angiography. Conclusion Willis ring variation and some vascular lesions can affect the bilateral CCA diameter difference, when the value is greater than 0 .7mm, should be further examination to early detection of cerebral vascular lesions.
