Upon the approval of the State Council Expert Office of Foreign Experts Affairs, at the invitation of China National Nuclear Corporation, Dr. Richard Parizek (President Adviser, Hydrogeologist and Nuclear Waste Disposal Specialist) of the U.S. Congress’s “Nuclear Waste Technology Review Committee” Leon Reiter (geologist, nuclear waste disposal expert) and Dr. Paula Alford (nuclear environmental policy expert) and his entourage came to China to give lectures on October 2 ~ 13, 1999, and inspected our country’s high-level radioactive waste repository Gansu Beishan Pre-selected sites and lectures at the Beijing Institute of Geology of the nuclear industry, introduced the progress of the evaluation of the characteristics of Yucca Mountain candidate sites for the US high-level radioactive waste repository and
