The FSC and PEFC organizations collectively account for approximately 98% of global forest certification and chain of custody certification. At present, the two organizations call on the members of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to not support the proposal to establish an ISO standard for the certification of forest products according to the current situation. Members of the International Standardization Committee voted on this proposal at the end of August 2013. In the joint statement, FSC and PEFC stated that they will continue to oppose this proposal. FSC and PEFC stated in the statement: “The ISO certification of forest products will not increase the global efforts to enhance the value of sustainable forest management. The basic principles of FSC and PEFC chain of custody certification are highly consistent, and the system allows companies to pass effective and direct The way to get both certifications with minimal additional cost.”
