Some verbs involve two or more people, things or groups doing the same thing with each other. These people, things or groups may have some kind of relationship or have some connection because of their joint participation in an event / action. Such verbs are reciprocal verbs. First of all, this article makes contrastive analysis of two sets of example sentences consisting of verbs “kiss ” and “love ” and their corresponding Chinese sentences, and draws a preliminary impression of mutual verbs and mutual meanings. On the basis of this, we further analyze and summarize some similarities and differences between English and Chinese about mutual verbs. At last, it summarizes and puts forward some problems to be solved further.
