In 1864, a serious dam accident took place in the United Kingdom when Dairy Reservoir was flooded with water and after the collapse of the dams, 260 people were killed and injured in and around the town of Sheffield in the lower reaches. However, the authorities still failed to take measures to prevent the other dam from causing any crash so that another cross-dam occurred in 1925 and the death toll was above 16. This forced Parliament passed the reservoir safety law (1930). Under this regulation, the design and construction supervision of dams where reservoirs containing more than 22,500 cubic meters of storage capacity must be delegated to engineers who have been approved by the DABC, all such dams must be inspected and reported at least once every 10 years . After the enactment of the regulation, the United Kingdom conducted a continuous survey of all designated dams and identified the ongoing
