In the history of contemporary literary criticism, He Qifang is undoubtedly an important figure. As a senior leader in literary and art circles, he inevitably appeared in various disputes over literary and art issues. As director of the Institute of Literature, he always made a rational analysis of various controversies in an attempt to give a A steady conclusion. Therefore, He Qifang, as a critics, is somewhat unique and complex in that abnormally literary age where movement is frequent. This uniqueness and complexity has its different forms of expression. In his study of A Dream of Red Mansions, it presents as a kind of critical ambition and warmth. Due to academic and research purposes, this article does not intend to comment on the content and value of He Qifang’s study of redology, but from the perspective of literary criticism
