It may be inconceivable to one in a world of peace that in some parts of the world today there is still a cry of voices calling for the basic survival of humanity and nation. The Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish is a poet who has spent his entire life singing for the Palestinian nation. Darwish was born in 1941 in the northern Palestinian village of Birva, witnessing major historic events such as the Palestinian war in 1948, the Lebanon-Israel war in 1982 and the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks in the 1990s. He began to write poetry in the early 1960s and left Palestine in the 1970s. He worked successively in Arab countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia and Jordan
