The authors looked at the effects of dietary medium to long-term deficient proteins on lung challenge in BCG-immunized inbred line 2 and inbred line 13 guinea pig Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulent strain H37Rv. The test animals were 150-250 g pathogen-free male and female inbred lines 2 and 13 inbred guinea pigs, who were randomized to receive an experimental diet with or without immunization. Body weight was recorded weekly during the experiment. Experimental diet is divided into low protein diet (including 10% ovalbumin), adequate protein diet (containing 30% ovalbumin) and the general guinea pig diet. Half of each guinea pig in each diet group was subcutaneously inoculated with about 10 to 6 viable BCG bacteria three weeks prior to the start of the experimental diet
