Objective: To investigate the changes of high sensitivity C-reactive protein and immunoglobulin in children with hand-foot-mouth disease and its clinical significance. Methods: A total of 214 children with HFMD were enrolled in this study. Blood samples were taken from venous blood by fasting on the next morning of admission for detection of leukocytes, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and immunoglobulin, and compared with the normal control group. Results: The hsCRP levels of acute and chronic hand-foot-mouth disease patients were significantly higher than those of the recovery and control groups (P <0.001), while there was no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05) Obviously positive correlation. The IgG in hand-foot-mouth disease was slightly higher than that in the control group, but there was no statistical significance (P> 0.05). IgA and IgM levels were higher in the HFMD children than in the control group (P <0.05 or P <0.001). Conclusions: hsCRP is elevated in children with HFMD during the acute phase of HFMD, and hsCRP can be used as a meaningful indicator for the cure of HFMD and inflammation in HFMD. Immunoglobulin levels in children with HFMD are no lower than those in normal Control group.
