The French film industry differs greatly from the British and American film organizations in production organization because the British, American and film industries are monopolized by London or Wall Street. After the First World War, the French financial giant already thought that film production was quite a “risky sale.” The two existing film monopolies, “EMI” and “Mongolia,” have in fact been merged into a single giant under the signboards of the Gontelle-Montluçon company (electric, television, radio, etc.) It is inextricably linked with the financial oligarchs in Britain, the United States and Switzerland. “EMI - Gaomont” owns a photofinisher, a head office that distributes movies to big cinemas, renders studios and produces weekly newspapers. But the two major monopolies are less interested in feature film production. The production of feature films, almost completely given to the petty capitalists.
