Objective: To optimize the allocation of drug resources, rationally select and use drugs, so that drugs can efficiently, safely, and economically serve health care, thus forming a scientific and rational drug structure. Methods: Using the basic methods of drug utilization research, the information of medication in our hospital from 1996 to 1998 was analyzed. Based on the actual drug consumption data of this hospital, the dynamic comparison and analysis was performed focusing on the top 100 drugs ranked according to the amount of drugs consumed. Results: The proportion of imported drugs decreased year by year. The declines in 1996, 1997, and 1998 were 29%, 24%, and 19%, respectively. Joint ventures and domestic drugs increased by 7 and 3 percentage points respectively. The total amount of 1 to 100 consumable drugs accounted for 72% (1996), 75% (1997), and 75% (1998) of the total amount of drugs consumed in their respective years. In 1996, 100 species were eliminated, and 34 species were eliminated in 1997; in 1997, 100 species were eliminated, and 24 species were eliminated in 1998. The average annual elimination of 29 species during the two-year period. Conclusion: The variety and variety of drugs in the pharmaceutical market are intensifying, and doctors’ prescription behavior plays a pivotal role in drug demand. Selecting new drugs that are clinically necessary, safe and effective, reasonably priced, and easy to use are imperative. The analysis of pharmacoeconomics brings new ideas to the choice of therapeutic drugs and decision-making of treatment programs. Integrating “reasonable” and “economic” into one, “value for money” is the goal pursued.
