Intrauterine ischemia and hypoxia affect the fetal nervous system development is an important reason. Anything that affects the gas exchange between the fetus and maternal cause can cause fetal hypoxia. Hypoxia can affect fetal nervous system development through a series of biochemical cascades and even lead to brain damage. Ischemic and hypoxic events occur at different times during pregnancy on the nervous system is not exactly the same. To clarify the etiology, form and mechanism of brain injury is crucial for guiding how to adopt a reasonable neuroprotective strategy to reduce brain damage and improve neurodevelopmental outcomes. Some methods can be used to monitor intrauterine fetal hypoxia. Only a small percentage of birth-induced hypoxia is associated with postnatal cerebral palsy.
