One of McDowell’s core achievements is his empiricism, illustrated in The Mind and the World, which explicitly opposes Evans’s Non-Conceptual Content Theory. As a follow-up to Evans’s theory, some philosophers consider McDowell’s critique largely to repeat Silas and Davidson’s attack on “theory.” Therefore, if we can give a theory that can avoid this predicament, his empirical theory is unnecessary. By analyzing McDowell’s counter-argument and its validity, we will see that there is a serious problem in his conception of the naturalization of sensory experience: the “un-analyzability” of the empirical content heralds his experience On the thought is not perfect, and this also means that his criticism of the NC can not be completely.
