In 1903, Harms first described a disease involving iris atrophy and glaucoma, and was named “primary progressive iris atrophy.” Half a century later, Chandler described another syndrome of iris atrophy, corneal endothelium malnutrition and glaucoma, which was later called Chandler’s syndrome. Klein, Cogan, and Reese describe the third lesion with many similarities to primary iris atrophy, except that the iris surface has pigmented nodules. Wolter and Makley again reported a similar case of a more diffuse iris pigmentary lesion. Subsequently, Scheie and Yanoff reported 14 cases of nodular or diffuse iris damage and were referred to as Cogan-Ree
