In modern society, allergies are an important cause of morbidity. In recent decades, more attention has been focused on the early detection of individuals at high risk of allergic disease. Family history of elevated neonatal umbilical cord blood-IgE (CB-IgE) and positive allergic disease can help detect newborn infants and start preventive work as soon as possible. Because CB-IgE is widely used as a screening parameter for allergic diseases, it is necessary to determine the normal value of the newborn and to understand the factors that affect this normal. In this study, we investigated the effect of gender on CB- IgE and the relationship between gestational age and CB-IgE. Patients, Methods, and Results In 1985, Willems College in Belgium analyzed the IgE of 5305 umbilical cord blood samples using a conventional ELISA (M: 1.05). 5124 parts CB-IgE ≦ 2.4 μg / L. 2617 were males (M: 1.04). 181 (3.4%) specimens of CB-
