Kate Chopin’s “Awakening” has shaped Edna Poundrayer, a woman seeking liberation of her personality in a particular social and historical context, portraying her desire for freedom and self-esteem. This article focuses on the two opposing worlds of Awakening: the real world and poetic life. Edna lingered on the edge of the two worlds, drifting away from the real world and gradually transitioning to dreams, dreams and dreams, which symbolized poetic life, corresponding to the awakening and rising of her sexual and self-consciousness. Edna’s ending shows that dreams can not exist independently of reality, but her persistence of dreams is a surpassing and victory over reality.
