歌剧《骆驼祥子》赴意大利巡演大获成功,在业内引起了广泛的关注,作为中国第一部进入歌剧之乡巡演的原创歌剧,歌剧《骆驼祥子》在意大利的演出无疑具有里程碑性质的意义。因为它是用地道的北京话讲述的老北京的故事,音乐创作上用的却是西方作曲技法与美声演唱。该剧自2014年在国家大剧院首演以来,关于中国原创歌剧到底要具备怎样的风格、百姓语汇与西洋音乐如何结合、西方大歌剧与京味小说如何联姻等等内容就成了业内持续讨论的话题,进而引发了民族题材与歌剧艺术如何嫁接、歌剧在中国能否实现本土化的严肃思索。忠于老舍原著而改编的歌剧剧本,因其口语化的风格有悖观众印象中歌剧的典雅高贵,也被推到了争议的中心。歌剧《骆驼祥子》的编剧徐瑛早在多年前就因与作曲家谭盾、郭文景、林品晶分别合作歌剧《茶》《诗人李白》和《胡笳十八拍》而蜚声国际歌剧剧坛,但在国内,他作为歌剧编剧却鲜为普通观众所知,其与林兆华、易立明等导演合作的话剧作品“春秋三部曲”《刺客》《说客》《门客》以及京剧《宰相刘罗锅》和《连升三级》等倒是被更多观众所熟悉。今年九月,国家大剧院将再次上演歌剧《骆驼祥子》,在该剧复排上演的前夕,《艺术评论》采访了该剧的编剧徐瑛。
