《小城畸人》是舍伍德.安德森(Sherwood Anderson,1876—1941)的代表作,小说通过记叙畸形人物的故事,揭示出美国由农业社会向工业社会转变时期现代人的精神状态。本文根据查尔斯.泰勒有关世俗化的观点,以《小城畸人》为研究范本,探讨其中的世俗化现象;通过剖析人与环境、人与上帝以及人与人之间的关系并勾勒出世俗语境中人们对宗教信仰的背离、犹豫、反思的内心世界。
The Story of a Small Town is a masterpiece by Sherwood Anderson (1876-1941). The novel reveals the modern state of mind during the transformation of the United States from an agrarian society to an industrial society by describing the story of the deformed person. Based on the viewpoint of Charles Taylor about secularization, this article tries to discuss the secularization phenomenon by using the example of “the abnormality of the small city” as a research paradigm. By analyzing the relationship between man and environment, man and God, and between human beings, People in the deviance of religious beliefs, hesitation, reflection of the inner world.
