The detection of AIDS-infected blood from blood transfusions in the United States has been successful. This method, which was approved last spring, is very valuable for screening blood contaminated by HIV. According to an official with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the method detects essentially the portion of each potentially contaminated blood.
