Boston is an older city in the United States. In 1963, an architectural design competition was held for the reconstructed city hall. The current city hall was constructed using the winning designs of Kalman, McGinley, and Laurence Architects. The city of Boston has many old classical buildings, but the new town hall did not adopt classical architectural styles. Its base part has a red brick appearance. It includes a basement floor and is cast above the red brick base.
