University of Hull scientist David Odd Moore developed a computer system to control pests. The system uses neural networks to distinguish the sounds of pests from the background noise. To make the pest control system work effectively, scientists first record the unique sounds of each pest, convert them to digital signals, encode them with speech recognition, and store the encoded signals in a neural network. The computer is connected to a field or garden sensor during operation. If a pest is present, the computer will quickly process the sound captured by the sensor and give an alert. Scientists hope this system will not come in the future
