1981年8月21日宝成铁路沿线普降大雨,嘉陵江出现前所罕见的特火洪水,致使淹没路基,冲毁路堤和河岸防护工程,冲毁桥梁,中断行车,损失巨大。在水害抢险修复设计中,对宏庆车站南端站外(K120+160~K120+740)及李家河车站(K123+656.64~K123+980两处冲刷特别严重的河岸地段,由于没有明挖做脚墙基础施工的条件,采用了沉井基础防护,以确保路基的安全稳固。(见照片1、2、3)
