In recent years, the Valles caldera has become known as a typical example of a regenerative caldera and a site for high-temperature geothermal systems. However, the geological history of the volcanic area of the Bayesian Caldera and the surrounding Jemez Mountains dates back to the late eighteenth century. In recent years, the focus of research has changed due to economic and scientific factors. Early work focused on mining, while modern work has focused on volcanology and will focus on geothermal development in the future. An examination of a comprehensive magmatic-hydrothermal system region as a kinetic with more than 13 million years of evolutionary history has only become possible in the last five years.
