He was greatly influenced by the influence of traditional Chinese culture and Western liberalism. In the debate over the administrative litigation system in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republican China, he advocated equality in the judiciary and pursued personal liberty and democratic rights. He opposed the establishment of the Ping Cheng Yuan, advocating the establishment of a common system of administrative litigation by ordinary courts.
