Please briefly introduce the convention and exhibition facilities of Perth Convention and Exhibition Center(“PCEC”).
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre(PCEC) is Western Australia’s only dedicated convention and exhibition facility providing an unequalled range of meeting possibilities suited to promoting positive interactions between business, industry, and community. PCEC caters for events with meeting room capacities ranging from 10 to 2,500 including a tiered seat auditorium; nineteen specialist meeting rooms; six exhibition pavilions totaling 16,500m2 of floor space; an outdoor function space; and grand ballrooms with spectacular views of the majestic Swan River and city skyline, including Perth’s newest waterfront precinct, Elizabeth Quay.
What are some of the brand MICE events that took place in your venue in 2017 and the first half of 2018?
The events cover a number of industry sectors, and brand vents were: Bard Medical, M6S, JuicePlus, Amazon.
As a MICE venue, does PCEC organize its own events? How do you find the changing of requirements of your customers(organizers and visitors, etc)?
Albeit PCEC does not organize its own events, we are interested in teaming with partners where opportunities may present themselves. We certainly value and are attentive to entrepreneurial ideas and collaborations.
We’re hearing more and more from organizers that they are looking for a wellintegrated, bright, and easy venue for their delegates to move around in. As you move around the PCEC, delegates and exhibitors see where they need to move to, without becoming confused, we believe this adds to the delegates networking opportunities and therefore overall event experience is enhanced.
Organizer is also looking for unique venue for MICE events. Perth Convention Exhibition Centre is privilege to have the largest ballroom in Perth overlooking the lovely views of Elizabeth Quay, CBD and Swan River. This makes it a sought after venue for MICE group dinners.
Apart from excellent facilities, what are other advantages that have help to attract events to Perth?
Perth is a welcoming city buzzing with new hotels, brimming with new and established restaurant and bars options, bustling with interesting retail outlets and a changing urban landscape. Yet it has retained its stunning natural beauty and sense of space within a compact CBD, all with safe walking distance to PCEC. That’s why delegates love to come here. Perth is amid an exciting period of expansion and new developments ideally catering for the MICE industry. The largescale capital works projects throughout the city and surrounding areas mean Perth is dramatically changing reflecting the growing global importance of the city.
Importantly, onground costs for business travellers to Perth have significantly lowered as the end of the mining and resources boom has now taken price pressures out of the local economy. We have welcomed many new hotels increasing both room supply and the quality of the accommodation product, whilst visitors are also now enjoying a lowering average room rate.
Per th’s convention and events professionals also have a typical Western Australian entrepreneurial spirit, a ‘can do’ attitude and a team approach to make things happen ensuring clients’ events are an outstanding success.
H o w d o y o u v i e w t h e importance of sustainability for MICE venues? Is that a factor valued more and more by your organizers clients?
MICE venues will continue its growth and existence in the current market as MICE market continues to grow and retain its market share/place. Organizer will continue to seek for MICE venues and look for uniqueness and offering from these MICE venues.
How do you view the future cooperation in the MICE industry between China and west Australia?
We believe Western Australia (WA) will experience continued growth from the China MICE market as West Australia is still an “untapped” destination for China market. West Australia will strongly support MICE industry coming to WA and currently works with industry partners in bringing MICE group to WA.
