通常所说的冻害,有秋冬甘蔗成熟季节的冻害,也有越冬的宿根蔗地下芽的冻害,也有窖藏甘蔗种苗的冻害。成熟季节的冻害,习惯称“霜冻”。当绝对最低气温在0℃或0℃以下时,重霜伴随着冰冻使甘蔗部份组织或整株丧失生活力,或失去部份生理功能。霜冻对甘蔗造成糖份水解,制糖困难。蔗芽受冻坏后,影响留种,所以霜冻是甘蔗生产上不可忽视的问题。1975~79年,笔者曾对甘蔗霜冻作过初步的调查,现整理如下。
