以摩尔定律为主宰的IT业,各类商业大战司空见惯。DVD格式标准之争就引来了以索尼、东芝为代表的硬件制造商,华纳、派拉蒙为代表的内容生产商,甚至PC厂商的混战。1月,原本同时支持蓝光DVD和高清BVD的华纳突然宣布从5月开始只推出蓝光DVD和传统的DVD碟片,一时间业内哗然。2月,东芝宣布退出高清DVD业务,索尼等公司主导的蓝光技术阵营在这场争斗中获得胜利。
In the IT industry dominated by Moore’s Law, various kinds of business wars are commonplace. The dispute over the DVD format standard attracted hardware manufacturers represented by Sony and Toshiba, content producers represented by Warner, Paramount, and even PC manufacturers. In January, Warner, who originally supported both Blu-ray DVDs and high-definition BVDs, suddenly announced that only Blu-ray DVDs and traditional DVDs had been released since May. In February, Toshiba announced that it would withdraw from the high-definition DVD business, and the Blu-ray technology camp dominated by Sony and other companies won the battle.
