化妆是演出工作的一个组成部分,从传统的观念来说,化妆师的创造性只能处于从属地位,主要作用是协助演员塑造角色的外部形象。化妆师的创造性受制于各种表演形式的特殊需要。以舞台化妆而言,戏曲化妆是传统程式化的化妆,历来没有多大的变化。歌舞化妆除了个别角色需要特殊处理外,群舞多以整体、和谐、统一为前提。话剧化妆比较讲求人物形象的真实性和舞台条件的夸张性,化妆师的创作余地较大,但都必须统一在剧本和导演总体要求下。所以化妆师的创造性必然受到一定的制约。
Make-up is an integral part of the performance. From a traditional concept, make-up artist’s creativity can only be subordinate, with the main role being to assist the actor in shaping the external image of the character. Makeup artist creativity is subject to the special needs of various forms of performance. In terms of stage makeup, drama makeup is a traditional stylized make-up that has not changed much in the long run. In addition to singing and dancing make-up individual needs special treatment, group dance and more to the overall, harmonious, unified as a prerequisite. Drama make-up more emphasis on the authenticity of the characters and the stage conditions of the exaggeration, make-up artist more room for creativity, but must be unified in the script and director of the general requirements. So make-up artist’s creativity is bound to be certain constraints.
