Using 125I-LDL as a ligand, LDL receptor levels were measured in esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, and their normal tissues. The contents of protein and DNA in tissues were analyzed to investigate the occurrence of esophageal and gastric cancers and LDL metabolism. Relationship between. The results showed that there was no significant difference in LDL receptor affinity between cancerous tissues and normal tissues, but the levels of protein, DNA, and LDL receptors in cancerous tissues were significantly higher than those in normal tissues. Cancer cells require a large amount of cholesterol to meet their mitosis. The cells increase the LDLR through the receptor elevation mechanism to increase the uptake and utilization of LDL.
