BACKGROUND: Elevated blood pressure is one of the manifestations of the metabolic syndrome (MetS). However, the relationship between the various blood pressure classes and the hypertensive subtypes and the possible morbidity of the metabolic syndrome has not been established. METHODS: In the 1999-2002 National Health and Nutrition Surveys survey, 5968 subjects aged 18 years and over without antihypertensive treatment (weighted 124,700,000) were selected for a cross-sectional study to determine the MetS (According to NCEP criteria) the possibility of illness. According to the classification of JNC-VI blood pressure, non-hypertension is divided into ideal blood pressure, normal blood pressure and high blood pressure.
