Objective To study the epidemiology of SARS-CoV among practitioners in Shenzhen Dongmen Market during the period of SARS epidemic and non-epidemic period. Methods The SARS coronavirus IgG and IgM antibodies were detected by ELISA or immunofluorescence in Dongmen market practitioners in May 2003 and January 2005. Results In 2003, the positive rate of SARS coronavirus IgG in Dongmen market was 6.16% (88/1429). In 2005, the positive rate of IgG was 1.5% (7/466). The positive rate of SARS coronavirus was significantly higher than that in non-epidemic period In 2003 and 2005, the SARS-CoV IgG antibody levels of SARS-CoV IgG in wild animals, birds, and slaughter stalls were significantly higher than those in the other five groups. However, the positive rates of SARS-CoV IgG antibodies in these three high-risk groups in 2003 Which was significantly higher than that in 2005. SARS-CoV IgG antibody could last 1 year and 8 months. In 2003, the positive rate of SARS coronavirus IgM antibody in Dongmen market was 0.69%. One SARS-confirmed SARS coronavirus IgM and IgG antibodies were positive in 2005 SARS-CoVIgM antibodies were negative, the conclusion of 2005 East Gate practitioners did not appear newly infected SARS virus. During the epidemic of SARS in 2003, there were SARS-infected and recessive-infected people in the Dongmen market. In close contact with wildlife, SARS-CoV-infected high-risk populations support the SARS-virus-derived speculation in animals.
