东方对虾在对虾科中属于较大的种类。是中国北部及朝鲜西岸的黄海、渤海的特有品种。每年的4～5月左右,主要在渤海、黄海北部及中部产卵、发育。11月中旬以后,在黄海渔场洄游,被日本渔船捕获。东方对虾的苗种生产试验,是从1977年到1980年在日本山口、和歌山、佐贺和鹿儿岛各县进行的。日本水产协会志布志事业场于1984年开始,为探明此种对虾的生态和苗 Oriental shrimp in the shrimp family belongs to the larger species.
