在过去批判的西方的新闻观点中,人们最熟悉的论点,莫过于“狗咬人不是新闻,人咬狗才是新闻”了.这句话过去被认为是美国《太阳报》主编德纳说的,故称之为“德纳定义”。后经查证,不是德纳说的,而是《太阳报》采访部主任博加特说的,张冠李戴了。所以,本文中姑称之为“博加特论点”.(注) 博加特论点的命题当然是非常错误的。但是,也含有一点合理的颗粒。这就是:“反常出新闻”. 大家知道,新闻是发展变化中的客观现实的反映。新闻要新,就要着眼于变,从变化中发现新鲜事物,从变化中找新闻.为此,我们在研究事物发展变化的客观规律时,既重视事物的正常变化,也不忽视反常现象,不忽视“反常出新闻”。在现实生活中,“反常出新闻”是屡见不鲜的。例如:
