As the last link between the north and south of the Port of Rotterdam and the North Sea, the new bridge occupies an important position in the city. The 139-meter-high tower will be the city’s new landmark and will lead to new developments in the “Kop van Zuid” area. Asymmetric forms, sky blue steel brackets and long steel cables convey the “activity” of the deck. When designing this bridge, the designer takes into account all the public, city, construction and building requirements. The detail of the bridge has been meticulously handled from five different forms of concrete piers to handrails, platforms, gaps between concrete, steel to steel, and concrete to steel components. The handling of each component plays an important role in the entire bridge. Lighting is designed to emphasize the multiple features of bridges - urban architecture. When the darkness comes, it can only show the outline of the bridge. The interior lights illuminate the interior of the bridge. Dozens of cables stand steeply above the water, setting out the daytime bridge profile.
