EugeneGarfield博士是美国著名文献信息检索专家,也是科学引文索引(SCI)之父。关于他的生平及传奇经历,本刊在今年卷首新开辟的“人物”专栏已有详细介绍(见2005年第5卷第1期79～81)。本文源自对Garfield博士在“AYearofCelebration&CenturyofScienceLaunch”的访谈,编者希望能对有志于推进中国科技论文和期刊发展的作者、科技期刊从业者和管理者有所启示。
Dr. EugeneGarfield is a famous American document information retrieval expert and father of Scientific Citation Index (SCI). Regarding his life and his legendary experience, this magazine has introduced the newly created “People” column this year (see Volume 5, No. 1, 2005, pp. 79-81). This article is based on Dr. Garfield’s interview with “AYearof Celebration & Century of Science Launch,” and the editors hopefully will inspire writers, sci-tech periodicals practitioners and managers interested in advancing the development of Chinese scientific papers and periodicals.
